Monthly Critiques Coming Soon!
The goal of PIK is to not only help photographers to share their images to a wider audience but we also want to provide educational material from local experienced photographers to improve the quality of photography in Korea. It always feels great to receive praise. Nobody can say they don’t enjoy the feeling. After working on an image for many hours and receiving all those great compliments, we feel like we’re soaring.
Praise is important but all the compliments in the world won’t make you a better photographer.
Therefore, the PIK team has been working on the concept to offer a critique-session. At the end of each month our two curators, Marco Devon and Dylan Golby will be hosting a critique of all the images that have been submitted to PIK during the course of the particular month. Some months we will be asking special guests to join in and offer their advice. They will be looking at aspects like composition, exposure and offering advice on how the image can be improved.
It’s important to understand that the prompted comments during a critique aren’t meant to be negative. When suggestions are made about changes for example, the way you expose or compose to get better results, it is all about improvements to make a better image next time. Not getting defensive is a crucial part in this – be open to learning and admitting weaknesses. Nobody is perfect and every other image submitted will have some kind of flaws too.
In each month’s critique the top three photos of the month will be discussed at the start of the session and thereafter only 10 images will be selected to be discussed.
We are very excited about this next step in our project and we hope that it will benefit everyone and make us all better at our craft!
